Travel programme
Information about your medium or long-haul flight
Flight to Austria
Depending on the desired / booked class, you travel either in the Ecomony or Business class.
Some of the planned activities
Hallstatt, Bad Ischl, Lake Wolfgang
We leave Vienna early in the morning towards Obertraun. By ferry we cross the Lake Hallstatt, this provides an outstanding view of our unique Hallstatt.
With Bad Ischl, the world famous health resort and summer residence of Emperor Franz Josef and his Sisi, we continue travelling through the Salzkammergut. The second day finally leads us to Salzburg via Sankt Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee.
Some of the planned activities
Province of Berchtesgaden
After a short drive we reach the famous Bavarian landscape around Berchtesgaden with its Königssee.
Salzburg historic centre
An afternoon walk leads us in Mozart’s footsteps through the narrow streets of Salzburg, we discover the cathedral, the Festspielhaus and walk to the Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Some of the planned activities
We leave the city of Salzburg heading south, our first stage leads us to Zell am See. After a short stop, the route leads us west to the world-famous Krimml waterfalls. After a short hike through the Hohe Tauern National Park, we continue to Schwaz in Tyrol, as well as to the state capital Innsbruck with its Hofburg and the Renaissance monument, the Golden Roof. After a city walk we drive over the Brenner to South Tyrol towards Pfitsch.
Some of the planned activities
South Tyorl
Merano, beautifully situated in the Dolomites, offers dreamy alleys and a breathtaking panorama of the so-called rose gardens (part of the Dolomites).
Veneto
We continue to Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet, with its Roman amphitheater and the delightful balcony of the aforementioned couple.
In the evening we reach Lake Garda and enjoy the atmosphere and delicacies of the regional cuisine.
Some of the planned activities
We pass through Italy to the east and visit the western tip of the Venetian lagoon. The tranquil Chioggia with its canals invites you to linger. We then head north to Udine with its delightful old town. The day ends at the former Austrian naval port of Trieste. Here you can feel the influence of the Danube monarchy especially through the architecture.
Some of the planned activities
Not far from Trieste, Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian (younger brother of Emperor Franz Josef and later Emperor of Mexico) fulfilled the dream of a unique country estate right by the sea – Miramare. You can still feel the “spirit” of this historic place. Then we drive briefly through Slovenia to Pula in Croatia. Pula was the second important port of the Danube monarchy, since it was home to the K.u.K. Kriegsmarine (Imperial & Royal Navy). After visiting the Roman amphitheater, we enjoy the drive along the Adriatic coast and reach Opatija in the afternoon – Italian Abbazia, German Sankt Jakobi. Hard to believe this place could be achieved in the 1910’s by train faster than now. Opatija was THE summer resort for Austrian high society on the upper Adriatic. The name of the waterfront “Kaiser Franz Josef” is just one of the countless testimonials from this period.
Some of the planned activities
Let your mind wander and enjoy the sea air, the Mediterranean climate and the hospitality of the Croatians.
In the early afternoon we take a short trip to the nearby island of Krk, one of the most popular holiday destinations in Kvarna Bay.
Some of the planned activities
We leave Croatia heading north and visit the small town of Bled with its lake in Slovenia. With a traditional plette we cross over to the small island and visit its landmarks. If you like, you can climb the church tower and take a unique view of the surroundings.
Afterwards we do not approach the roof of the world but at least the roof of Austria, the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain.
On the Großglockner high alpine road it goes to Kaiser Franz Josef Höhe where you can enjoy the view of the glacier called Pasterze.
One of the most extraordinary experiences is a sunrise on the Grossglockner. We do not want to withhold this from you and so we spend the night on the Edelweißspitze at 2500m above sea level. Early in the morning you can enjoy a huge panorama with the rising sun (weather permitting). The ascent to the Großglockner is only permitted in good weather.
